Snoreeze Brief 1- Research

At Uni I have been given a project to make an advert for Snoreeze. It has to be able to be cut into 20 and 10 second shorts and you have to be able to tell what the product is able to do when it has no sound when advertised in a Pharmacy.
The first Brief is based on research which can later on help me come up with some ideas for the advert.

Research on Snoreeze

Passion for life healthcare are brand owners / manufacturers of Snoreeze
Snoreeze is being sold in 24 countries including the UK, France and Germany.

Snoreeze has a range of products that are available such as
Throat spray:
Lozenges:

 Oral strips:

 Lozenges:

and throat rinses that work by tensioning the tissues.

Nasal spray and nasal strips work by opening up the airways.

For people with severe snoring gum shields are available and are 80% effective in reducing snoring.

Snoreeze products have been proven to last for up to 8 hours.
The product is not 100% natural therefore will advertise on its packaging that it "contains natural ingredients."
You can buy Snoreeze from shops or online such as Ebay, Amazon, Boots, Rowlands pharmacy, Holland and Barrett, Lloyds pharmacy.

I decided to look at adverts by Snoreeze as well as other companies with similar products.

Here is the German snoreeze advert.

Chinese advert.

Another advert that shows how snoring can affect a partner.

A video by a ZQuiet:

ORA advertising AveoTSD and explaining what causes snoring

I like these Rollo adverts as they bring the animator into the frame and is simple but effective:

I looked a bit into sleep apnoea as snoring can cause it. It is basically where you wake yourself up from suffocating yourself in your sleep due to a muscle in your throat being too relaxed.

My Design Board

After looking at quite a few adverts I decided to think of a few ideas for Snoreeze and look at different styles I liked that might portray their message clearly and sell their product successfully.

Here is my storyboard.
As I was looking to see what I liked ideas would pop into my head.

My design board displays a few things that link to a few ideas that I have in mind. The image with the man drawn in blue makes him look tired and sad so I was thinking the blue colour palette could be the first half of the advert where the person is sad from not being able to sleep then the other colour palette is warm and colourful. This could be used when the couple have used the products and notice they have been working.

The image of the mattress is from an ad for deep sleep. I like the word play in this ad how they manipulated the words to get the message across.

I find the animals telling Bernard off for snoring are rather cute and appealing but since the woman who wants the add does not want animals as main characters this could just relate to an idea of one of the persons involved falling asleep in various places.

I like the styles of the other pictures and think the top two would be the right style for the advert as they are very clean and clear.

The concept of counting sheep is well known all over the world but I would like to add a twist to that in this advert which you will see in my next Snoreeze blog post.
